Acne Studios – an acronym for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions – creates an effortlessly cool wardrobe inspired by designer Jonny Johansson’s love of art, photography and architecture. A mainstay on the Paris Fashion Week schedule, the Scandinavian brand is known for easy-to-wear off-duty staples such as the signature 1996 denim jeans, coveted leather biker jackets and cult-favourite multicolour-checked scarf, alongside oversized T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring the Face-logo patch – a symbol representing the Swedish notion of lagom, meaning ‘not too happy, not too sad.’ The Stockholm-based label has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation since 2008, which monitors and improves labour conditions, and uses organic and recycled wools and cottons, deadstock materials and Soil Association or GOTS-certified chemicals and dyes when producing its collections.
